I’d like to think I do a pretty good job of allowing my personality to shine through through my blog posts, but just in case I think too highly of my writing abilities, here’s ten things you may not have known:

1) Sometimes when I travel by myself in an airport, I talk in a British accent. I feel like it makes things more interesting.

2) I played the bassoon in high school and all through college. If you have no idea what a bassoon is, look up the song “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” It’s the WICKED AWESOME sounding instrument playing the main riff.

3) I have ZERO talent when it comes to interior decorating.

4) When I was five, I had a crush on Gaston from Beauty and The Beast. Yep, a cartoon character.

5) Needles terrify me. To the point that I never got that blood work I was ordered to get by my doctor when I turned 17. Sorry about that, Dr. Forman…

6) I collect Nutcrackers! I’ve received at least one new one every year for Christmas- it started when I danced in the Nutcracker.

7) Ballet melts my heart.

8) The movie “Matilda?” I’ve seen it over 50 times.

9) I quote movies like it’s nobody’s business. Particularly Disney movies. If you’ve ever had an e-session with me, you’ve probably been asked to do “the smolder.” That’s from “Tangled,” in case you were wondering.

10) Somehow I always use way more conditioner than shampoo so by the time I’m 2/3 of the way through the shampoo, the conditioner is gone. That wouldn’t be the problem if weren’t for the fact that I staunchly refuse to buy the same kind of shampoo + conditioner twice in a row, so I end up with a collection of 1/3 full shampoo bottles.

10 Things You Didn’t Know

November 28, 2011

  1. Hahaha! I do the same thing with the shampoo and conditioner bottles! (Not buying a new, different each time. But using way more conditioner than shampoo. Not sure why, just do.) I love reading these! Thanks for sharing, Abby!

  2. Ah, these are too funny! I really enjoy number 1:-) Oh, and I don’t like needles either but they really aren’t that bad at all.

  3. Mia Bjerring says:

This was so much fun reading! I love number 1!! I talk in a British accent aswell, haha.
And number 10 is so me. My boyfriend hates that I never use all the shampoo in a bottle and I have like 10 bottles that are not emptied! He’s asked me to use all the half empty ones, but hey I’m on a new bottle now I can’t just leave that one!

  4. Megan Roldan says:

#1 cracks me up! and I totally do the shampoo/conditioner thing… I can’t figure out how to stop using more conditioner!

  5. Elizabeth says:

I second the shampoo/conditioner issue!! I am too cheap, though, to buy it until I am 100% OUT, so, that makes things interesting…

  6. I am laughing so hard- #1 is cracking me up! I love these, so much fun! Matilda is one of my favorites too! And so with you on the shampoo/conditioner- I get attached to a brand though, so I buy 2 conditioners and 1 shampoo at a time! I thought I was nuts, glad to find friends 🙂

  7. HAHAH! These are funny! I think this is such a cute idea!

  8. Juliann Abercrombie says:

I love that #8 became an emoticon 😛 these are great!

  9. Karen Field says:

    Loved it!

  10. i LOVE this!!!!! totally saw Little Bit Heart’s post on their blog … I need to do this myself one of these days.

Also, I kind of love that #8 auto-turned into a sunglasses emoticon. just sayin’

oh, and I laughed about your British accent in an airport. mainly because I can 100% see you doing that.

  11. So, um, I will also admit to having a crush on a cartoon character. But I won’t say who! lol

  12. Krystal says:

Loved reading this. Especially the one on the shots. I am pretty sure my kids see your same “Dr. Forman” if he is located in Reston. LOVE HIM.

  13. Mary Marantz says:

Number 1 just made me fall in love with you a little bit more. Just so you know! 🙂

    M:)

  14. Jean Hensley says:

So funny! British accent…I can totally see you doing that. We wore out the taped version of Matilda and bought the DVD just for you and your cousin. Loved the times you would spend a week with us. Funny, I guess because my hair is short, I use less conditioner than shampoo. I can testify to your bassoon talent, as we proudly attended as many of your RU concerts as possible. So proud of you!

  15. Tim Field says:

Oh and by the way, I knew almost all of those things!!! and I can personally testify about the needle thing, I am still partially deaf in my right ear!

  18. Sydni Jackson says:

i collect nutcrackers too! i started because i remember my grandma’s collection from when i was little. 🙂 also that’s so weird about the shampoo/conditioner problem – i thought everyone used more shampoo than condition! I guess that’s why they normally make the bottles the same size.

  19. […] Not only will I not buy the same shampoo twice in a row, but the same principle also applies to most products in our lavatory at home: hand […]
