This weekend was crazy awesome and crazy busy. I had my first ever double header (what we in the wedding industry refer to as two weddings in two days, back to back), and I’ll admit that I was pretty nervous going into it. I’d hear stories from other photographers about having to peel themselves off the floor at the end up the second wedding and I was slightly concerned that I may experience something similar. Fortunately, things ended up being great! I wasn’t nearly as tired as I was expecting to be and due to a combination of having AWESOME second shooters and a spare pair of “comfy shoes” for the reception, I made it out alive. I don’t know that I’ll be doing any more double headers in the future, but I’m glad I’ve experienced for myself how it actually feels!

As always, lessons learned from this weekend:

  • If shooting a double header, make sure to pack an emergency supply kit. Here’s what was in mine: Luna bars, water, Tylenol, TOMS, and Cheetos. Don’t forget that last item- it’s important.
  • Unsalted peanuts are such a disappointment.
  • Don’t try to cull photos on your laptop whilst driving in a heavily-hilly area of town. It’ll make you nauseous.
  • Be prepared to understand that no matter how carefully you may have styled your trendy bangs, if it’s hot enough outside, you’ll need to pin them back or risk looking like a melted Barbie with a camera. (note to self: bring more bobby pins in my bag)

Previews from this weekend’s weddings!

Happy Monday!
