I remember the first time I met Matt Clem- I thought his last name was some sort of inside joke or nickname, because surely “Clem” couldn’t be his ENTIRE last name. Maybe it was short for Clemson? Or Clementine? But nope, it’s just Clem! I know Matt through CRU at Radford- we were on the worship band together, and Matt was THE big man on campus, our student body President. I felt pretty famous knowing him. During the summer between our junior and senior year, Matt went on a summer project to Zambia where he met Natalie, and things quickly fell into place from there. Living in a house with five other girls my senior, I got to watch love stories unfold from a female’s perspective. But because Natalie was in college in Texas, we got to watch their love story from his point of view- it was a beautiful thing to see. If you ever wanted to see a picture of a man who lovingly pursues the woman of his dreams, Matt & Natalie are such a beautiful illustration of that very thing. A few months after they started dating, Matt knew she was the one designed for him, so he flew out to Texas in February of 2010 to surprise her, both with his visit and with a very important question.

About half a year after their wedding, Natalie and Matt discovered they were expecting another surprise- Noah! He arrived last October and has melted the hearts of everyone around him with that thatch of blonde hair and those shining hazel eyes. Matt & Natalie were in town for Thanksgiving so we took some time to document their sweet little family just as it is. I don’t normally offer family portraits because I love working with couples so much, but it was such a refreshing challenge to shoot outside of my comfort zone! Matt & Natalie, thank you so much for the privilege of spending the afternoon with your precious family! Little Noah is such a gift and I loved every minute of our time together. Hoping Texas’ warmth was a welcome home gift after the biting winds of Virginia!

We began at Matt’s dad’s house…

I can’t decide if this photo is beautifully artistic, or a hilarious horse photobomb.

It was getting close to Noah’s nap time, so we left him in the care of his uncle inside and then headed back out for a few portraits of just Matt & Natalie :). THIS is totally my territory!
