Who would have thought that the penguin is one of the most romantic types of animals? There’s a particular type of the arctic bird that, in order to propose to the penguin he wants as his life mate, will scour the beach in search of the perfect pebble. Round, just the right size, free from imperfections. He presents his pebble to the female of his choosing, and if she accepts, they’re bonded for life.

This was the story Priyanka recounted to Eddie a few weeks ago, something she learned throughout her work at National Geographic. Eddie had already been brainstorming ideas for the perfect way to make Priyanka feel incredibly special, and after hearing this story, he knew exactly what to do. This past Friday, Eddie roused Priyanka early in the morning for a “vet appointment” for their two mini dachshunds, and after a mysterious cancellation on the part of the vet’s office, they decided to take a quick detour to Black Hill Park where they often walk the pups. A park that, coincidentally, has a beach made entirely of pebbles…

Eddie first offered Priyanka a pebble, recalling the story she’d told him the week before.

After a few surprised exclamations, he told her he’s actually found a brighter, more sparkly pebble, and pulled the very Cartier ring she’d been dreaming of from him pocket!
