The first time I ever felt really OLD was the summer after I graduated when I found tiny lines under my eyes. I freaked out, went and bought anti-aging eye cream, and then eventually came to realize that I was being absurd. Being 25 and the “live out LOUD” kind of person that I am, there haven’t been many other occasions that make me feel old… until I head back down to college :).

I had the absolute honor and privilege yesterday evening of speaking to Radford Communication students yesterday about social media- it was so much fun! It’s always a joy to visit my alma mater, and the fact that the Comms department asked me to be a featured speaker during Communication Week just about knocked my socks off. I originally thought I’d be in a classroom that fit 40 or so, but I found out on Tuesday that they were sticking me in an auditorium, which would be SUPER embarrassing if only 5 people showed up. Somehow there ended up being over 100 people in attendance though, and even though I was incredibly nervous, I got through it alright! I certainly met some amazing new faces and got to chat afterwards with a few students, and you guys KNOW how much I love answering questions :). It made me so excited for what the Comms department is doing at Radford!

Things I learned about myself yesterday: chambré shirts are never a good idea in situations where you think you may sweat nervously, I’m clearly not as funny as I thought I was (or college students don’t like laughing at my jokes), and if I’m going to use my iPad as a presentation tool again, I need to take the password lock off of it.

I ALSO had the opportunity to attend CRU’s weekly meeting last night and I was so darn encouraged! CRU played a huge part in my life during college- it’s where Matt & I met, it’s where I really learned what it looks like to walk with Jesus, and I spent nearly every weekend hanging out with friends from the organization. It was amazing to go back and see how things have changed, to hug familiar faces, and to see how God’s moving on RU’s campus. I am SO darn excited for the things going on at Radford right now!

And look- Instagrams and iPhone photos!

I yoinked the image on the right from my sweet friend Kaitlyn– she’s a growing photographer and I’m so thankful we had the chance to sit down and chat yesterday!

Happy Thursday, friends!

Look at you, all grown up now! You didn’t just graduate from RU but they’ve got you back as a speaker talking about your success in using your degree in a way you hadn’t planned on when you entered their program. Your approachableness was attractive so no surprise people wanted to talk to you afterward. So proud of you! And visiting CRU must’ve been cool. I’m glad you got to do both. Mom
