It’s officially fall! < I’m pretty that’s going to be the opening line of every blogger today. But I don’t care, I’m so dang excited. Since autumn no longer means going back to school, I’m free to enjoy this season for all of its chilly goodness, and for me, that means hopefully starting the week off with a cool morning run and a mug of mulled cider. And now I can really wear my new boots without feeling internally conflicted! At the recommendation of my friend Ashley, I bought a couple pairs of tall boot socks, so now I can rock my boots here, there, everywhere, in a box, with a fox, etc etc.

As always, lessons learned/things that transpired over the weekend:

  • Matt rooted around our AppleTV and found these “Top 10 [fill in the blank something having to do with movies]” videos by Watch Mojo, which resulted in whiling away half of Saturday afternoon jumping from one to the next. So far, I’ve seen “Top 10 Book To Movie Interpretations,” “Top 10 Laughable Superhero Powers,” “Top 10 Most Publicly Ridiculed Music Celebrities,” and more. It was kind of like finding yourself on Anna Nicole Smith’s Wikipedia page when you’d originally logged on to read up on the Vietname War- every time we’d finish one, there’s be recommendations for 12 more that looked just as awesome.
  • Among the Top 10 clips we saw was “Top 10 Pixar Movies.” Of course, Ratatouille was among them. Is it just me, or does anyone else get incredibly hungry/inspired to experiment in the kitchen after watching that little rat dance his way through soups, spices, and various perfectly-chopped ingredients?
  • Going off of my hunger/inspiration, I decided to make the title dish, ratatouille, for dinner on Saturday. IT WAS AMAZING. Just as delicious as it looked in the movie! Also, little known fact: wearing a cute apron makes you a better cook.
  • However, the joy of my culinary accomplishment was slightly tainted when I realized I left my wallet at Harris Teeter. I need to attach that thing to my purse with some sort of bike lock, because I’m forever leaving it in my car, on my desk, etc.
  • Last week was week 2 of Lily’s Petsmart training, and she’s developed what I’m dubbing Treat Exhaustion- those little training treats no longer do it for her, so we have to keep switching up what we’re giving so she doesn’t get bored. So far, she’s learned “sit” pretty well, and we’re working on “lay down,” but that one only works when you have a treat in hand. We’ll get there!

I’m so stoked to share Phil & Megan’s anniversary session with you guys tomorrow- I have a feeling y’all are going to love it just as much as I do.

**I’ve had a couple sort-of-last-minute slots open up for anniversary shoots in October- if you’re thinking of doing one, send me an email! These are some of my favorite portraits- more on that later this week :).**

Happy Monday!

Haha I was one of the people excited to ring in the fall! I’m like you…I feel totally conflicted about celebrating and enjoying fall things until it really gets here. Did it take you forever to make ratatouille?? I did it one time when I impulse bought an eggplant at trader joes and I felt like it took FOREVER. So much chopping lol.

  2. Jean says:

Beautiful photo! Glad you are enjoying the season changes. That’s what I like about the state of Virginia. Four seasons!

  3. Rebekah Hoyt says:

Gorgeous sneak peek! I’ve always wanted to try Ratatouille!
