Hellooo Monday Mash-Up readers! It’s crazy to me that I’ve  had this series going for over a year and a half now- we’ll have to do something special when we hit the hundredth post or something. Monday Mash-Ups started out as a cop-out (I needed something else to fill my blogging calendar!), but it’s my most consistently-read series, so I’d say it was an accidental success! Plus, it’s been fun to see just how many other photographers have started their own Monday re-cap posts now, too!

A week and a half ago, Matt came home to find me stressing hardcore about my disorganized weekly schedule. I’ve known for a while that something NEEDED to change, but if you guys know me, you’ll know that unless I have a rigid system in place, it’s hard for any actual change to be made. So on our date night, Matt (bless his ever-loving heart) told me to bring along my Emily Ley planner and we hashed out a schedule for Monday- Friday. We pinpointed areas that I really just can’t take on tasks (receipt organization, keeping up with insurance waivers/licensing requests, etc.), and Matt volunteered to help me get organized. Sure enough, I came home from Saturday’s wedding to find that ginormous stack of receipts I’d been trying to ignore? They’d been sorted and categorized. Matt, you are the world’s best husband ever. EVER.

As always, lessons learned/things that transpired over the past week:

  • I’ve finally learned to use my phone to jot down things that I want to remember for MMU posts- Siri makes this SO EASY! Although, she doesn’t always understand what I’m trying to say, so when I go back to my phone on Mondays and find notes to myself that say things like “cake your in love,” I’m left scratching my head. (see next point)
  • You know that Mo-Town song “Can’t hurry love?” Well, I’ve loved that song since I was 6 years old, but up until this past Friday, I was under the impression the words were “Kay, you’re in love, ohhh you’ll just have to wait.” As in, the speaker is talking to someone named “Kay.” Whoops.
  • Lily is typically pretty averse to getting a bath- she knows it’s coming when we carry her into the bathroom and close the door, and that about the time she crouches down and gets those shifty eyes. It’s for this very reason that I’m left thoroughly puzzled by the fact that I’ve come upstairs FOUR times in the past week to find her hanging out in the bath tub on her own accord. Just chilling. In the tub.
  • Driving a stick shift car makes me feel like Paul Walker in The Fast & The Furious. But just from the first movie- all the other ones since are just overkill. Watch out- I may pull up next to you at a red light and ask if you wanna race for papers.

One more preview from Jake & Ashley’s wedding until their blog post. Have I mentioned lately how much I love classic grooms in tuxes and elegant, timeless brides?

Abby, you managed to capture the utter joy on a grooms face when he sees his bride and knows this is the one he gets to come home to every night thereafter. That’s a talent to treasure. Keep up the fantastic work. This couple is going to enjoy being able to relive their wedding when they look through their album and remember exactly what they were thinking through the raw emotion saved forever in the pictures you took.

    Well done.

  2. Mary says:

So funny about the lyrics! I am a pro at mishearing song lyrics!

  3. Melissa Farmer says:

Siri makes me feel like I do not speak English sometimes, I feel your pain! Such a loving gesture from your hubby!

  4. Tessa says:

Your dog. I love that so much.

  5. Abby says:

    LOVE the B&W pic. Stunning.

  6. Jean says:

That Matt is such a good guy! Glad he was able to help you get organized. You two are so special. Love you both.
