Every now and then, I forget that the sky is the limit when it comes to dreaming. Yes, there are limitations when it comes to things that I can ACTUALLY put into practice (i.e. I will never, no matter how hard I try, be a concert pianist), but daydreams? Those don’t have a cap. Sure, some of my dreams are seriously audacious, but by dreaming, and dreaming often, I can feel that sphere of possibility being pushed to bigger and bigger proportions.

Last night we filled our home with nineteen photographers for our November Shoot & Share meet-up and after mixing and mingling, putting profile photos with actual names, faces and warm hugs, we sat around my living room and talked about our dreams. As every person shared what their hopes and goals are, I could FEEL my heart swelling. With every new voice spilling their ambitions, ambitions some hadn’t even made public yet, my own dreams grew bigger. And all those things I’d been cherishing a desire to do, all of those “yeah, that’ll never happen” kind of ideas, I could feel the realm of possibility grow to encapsulate them, making them goals, instead of abstract desires.

You musn’t be afraid to dream a little bigger, darlings.

Shoot & Share group- Northern Virginia

In the spirit of dreaming big, here’s one of my goals that I voiced last night: I want to shoot in Europe again. Ever since we left Paris in June, I’ve been cudgeling my brain for a reason to go back, and I’ve finally decided that I’m just going to MAKE it happen in 2014. I have no idea what I’ll shoot or when I’ll shoot it, but one way or another, it’s going to happen next Spring or Summer.

What about you guys? What’s your biggest dream? Leave a comment and I’ll send a $15 Starbucks gift card to one of you!

We make a good team:) We are scheming a way to someday teach. We were brainstorming a workshop idea on graphic design/photography! Far fetched, but we’re working hard towards this goal.

I have shot in a few places in Germany and I am SO thankful to be involved in the photography community out here. So many models willing to be apart of projects to help photographers out. We are actually in the works of a styled bridal shoot at a castle in December, I’m super excited. If you make it out here next year, send me a message and we can work on something together!

  14. Karen Field- Mom says:

The first person I looked for was you, Abby! I agree with the friend that pointed out the fact that you do have a timer for a reason. I love that all of you, first of all, meet regularly, and, secondly, spoke aloud your dreams. We saw Abby do this about shooting in Europe and then were able to rejoice with her when it came true! Keep on encouraging each other!

  15. Tessa says:
