Please excuse the extreme lateness of this post- I’m blogging from the air as we fly back from Puerto Rico! Today’s been Crazy. Actually, the past five days have been crazy. From the extreme stress of delayed flights and wondering if we were going to make it to PR in time for the wedding weekend, to the exhilarating peace of lying on a white sand beach, it’s been a roller coaster to say the least. I absolutely love travel and will do it any time I get the chance, but I’m definitely looking forward to making it home tonight.

So! It’s time for lessons learned/events that transpired over the last week:

  • On the island of Vieques, which is just off the coast of PR, horses roam the streets and fields just like deer do at home. So when you’re driving your Jeep across the island at night, it becomes a game of “dodge the horsie.” More than once we were forced to swerve out of the way for a group of them grazing along the road. We saw it enough times for it to become old news, but it still made me laugh every time we’d spot a horse walking on the sidewalk without an owner!
  • Also roaming the island freely: domesticated dogs. The pups don’t belong to anyone, but they’re really friendly and lovable. So friendly, in fact, that one of them felt free to go ahead and pee on my ThinkTank bag thing morning. TWICE.
  • You know those commercials for island getaways where the water is the crystalline aqua? I always just assumed they’d PhotoShopped it to make the color pop. Nope, water really does come in that shade of blue!
  • I discovered a new favorite drink this weekend- rum punch. Heavy on the punch, super light on the rum, DELICIOUS. The best one I had all weekend involved orange and cranberry juices + Passoa (passion fruit liquor, I think?)
  • When you’ve been sitting an an airport for five hours and all you want to do is scream at the night flight attendant who tells you “just another 45 minutes, folks!”, the best thing you can do is have a cupcake. Never fails to make me smile. Well, that is until my stomach feels like I just gave it diabetes due to the sheer volume of frosting piled atop said cupcake. 🙂

One last preview from this weekend! Sorry for the slightly fuzzy quality, we’ve had a little trouble transferring all of my old programs from the last laptop to this new one and it currently isn’t running BlogStomp, so forgive the lack of sharpness. New computer woes!

When we were on our cruise and stopped at Grand Turk, there was a stray dog that came along with us for one of our beach walks… it was the friendliest thing, and we decided he was the best local tour guide that we had the entire trip! It was a blast.

  6. Tina Tabibi says:

Absolutely stunning! Safe travels home. We are traveling tonight. It was great to meet you. Can’t wait to see more photos from Trace and Jeff’s Vieques wedd adventure!
