You know what I love most about this country? Everything. The rolling green hills, the friendly people, the sweet smell of slightly fermented hay as you pass by fields of livestock. The gentle weather, the atmosphere of a small village pub, the Irish music performed nightly. Everything. I loved Ireland, and during my numerous walks about the countryside, splashing through wet fields in my Hunter boots, hopping fences and exploring abandoned castles, there was this overwhelming sense of peace that washed over me again and again.

Ireland somehow managed to calm my wild heart and for once, I was happy to be alone with my thoughts. Without the distraction of a phone, or friends, puppies, and even family. Something I’ve discovered recently is that I often use being an extrovert as an excuse to distract myself from being alone with… well, myself. Ireland gave me no choice, and I love her for that.
