They both had this friend- you know the kind, the one who loves setting up their friends?- who was convinced they needed to meet. So after this friend emailed Judd to make sure he was available for a date, and convinced Caroline to meet Judd for drinks one night, the trap was set. Both living in different places at the time, the two contented themselves with getting to know one another as e-mail pen pals until Caroline had moved back to the area- “and the rest is history,” she’ll tell you with a smile! A year apart as she studied in Paris presented a potential challenge, but they just go so well together that they both knew it would work out.

After Caroline’s return home to the US, Judd decided it was time to make things officially official. So he brought family into town and sent her off for a day at the spa while they got to work setting up for the proposal. He’d arranged to have a town car pick Caroline up, and when the driver didn’t take the usual turn toward home, she knew something was up. Instead, the driver delivered her to the Spanish Steps in DC, where Judd was waiting with the most beautiful sparkler of a ring.

Their playfulness together is so endearing, and watching them together is the kind of experience that makes you believe in soul mates all the more, in a non-cheesy kind of way. The sort of thing that fits, like how his arms loops perfectly around her waist to pull her in close, and how her smile gets even wider when she spies him looking at her.

Judd & Caroline, I had so, SO much fun with you both during your engagement session! I’m so glad we were able to make it work, and despite the chill in the air, you rocked your portraits from the first frame to last. I cannot WAIT for your Mellon Auditorium wedding next May with Engaging Affairs!
