Sometimes, you wake up on a Monday morning and all you want to do is stuff your face with chocolate, read a good book, and snuggle up with your puppies. And then other Monday mornings, you get an email from your friend Alicia with a link to your Christmas card photos, and all is right again! I had a plan for things I wanted to accomplish today, but now all I can do is comb through Minted, looking for the perfect card to go with our awesome photos! THANK YOU, ALICIA!

(This is obviously not one of our images from Alicia- it’s from Saturday’s wedding! And that dress is over 60 years old!)

Have you ever picked up a new book and had NO idea what’s inside, and as you read you’re genuinely surprised by every new twist and turn? Like, if you were to pick up Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone, having no idea before you started reading that Harry was a wizard? You get to experience every surprise the way the author originally intends! I don’t think I’ve ever had that until this past weekend- Matt brought home a new Rick Riordan book (the guy who wrote the Percy Jackson series), and I didn’t even read the inside flap before I dove in. And so far, I’m LOVING the fact that I have no idea what’s coming next. It’s the best!

As always, lessons learned/events that transpired over the past week:

  • Guys. I got my inbox down to less than 20. I know that may not impress you, but I’m super proud of myself!
  • Space 46 regrammed one of my tulle skirt photos last week… and it’s still in the top 9 photos when you click the tag #tulleskirt! I thought that was pretty cool…
  • A surefire way to give yourself a panic attack: lose your ID right after you enter a military base (the US Naval Academy, for example). If you can manage to do it less than 30 minutes before a wedding ceremony, too, you get extra bonus points.
  • It’s finally time to lay my favorite fall boots to rest. I had them repaired over the summer, but the entire sole peeled off the left boot during Saturday’s wedding ceremony, causing me to trip on my way up to the front of the chapel. That was cute.
  • And on that note, photographers! Always carry an extra pair of shoes with you! Especially if you don’t have super glue handy to tack your shoes back together!
  • The only time our home ever gets decorated is if there’s threat of people coming over. Our gallery wall in the living room? It’s only up because we host workshops in the living room (read that story here). The guest bathroom downstairs? Again, workshop. I finally put a few decorative shelves up over our tv, and this time’s prerogative? Our parents were coming for dinner. We should plan to have people over more often- maybe one day, I’ll get around to finishing the the whole house!

I think I could photograph at the US Naval Academy every weekend and never tire of it. You guys are going to love Matt & Colleen’s wedding!
