It feels like SPRING in northern Virginia this morning! There are birds chirping, the sun’s shining, and almost all the snow from last month’s blizzard is gone. There are still a few small piles here and there, but the sidewalks are clear for the first time in a month! I LOVE springtime. It’s the most hopeful time of year!

This is a frame from the blizzard four weeks ago. AKA not the most hopeful time of the year, but beautiful all the same!

My off-season is coming to a close soon, and I have to tell you- I feel amazing. I’ve caught up on all the sleep I didn’t get during wedding season, I’ve rested, relaxed, Netflix-binged, and shot a bit of personal work. March is still technically “off-season” for me, but I’ll be traveling a lot throughout next month, so as enjoyable as it’ll be, it’ll definitely be busier than usual.

As always, lessons learned/events that transpired over the past week!

  • You know you’re maturing when a trip to IKEA is how you choose to spend a Friday night. We would have waited until Saturday, but Matt pointed out the crowds on a Saturday afternoon at a place like IKEA would be insane. So we made a Friday night date out of it. $1 ice cream cones? Yes please!
  • I’m not a great decorator- I have zero interior design skills, and I get overwhelmed quickly! Which is why I never understand why I think it’s a good idea to go into IKEA without any sort of plan– I always tell myself I’ll just pick out whatever strikes my fancy when I get there, but there are so. many. options. I mostly just feel like curling into a ball when I get to the section with the picture frames.
  • The good news is that we DID get a new bookshelf, so I can finally stop using our coffee table as a reservoir for all the reading material I never feel like carting back downstairs.
  • Nothing is more infuriating than reaching the end of your data coverage for the month, and realizing you have a road trip ahead of you during which you were planning to pass the time with podcasts.

I got my first set of film scans back from my new Yashica! It shoots in square format (it’s like, Instagram before it was cool) and so far, I’ve only used black & white film to test things out. My first roll was…. questionable. But I’m getting better and better with nailing my focus, and I think my next roll of film will be color! WOO!

Love the photo of Lily. I also get overwhelmed in places where there are so many beautiful choices. I usually walk out without making a choice!????
