Our church has a pre-school program that runs during the week. The teacher asked all of her 4- and 5-year-olds to describe how to make the perfect Thanksgiving turkey. This is my favorite of them all:

“Go to the woods and catch a turkey with a butterfly net. Cut his head off with a knife and pull off the feathers. Put the turkey in a pan with a thermometer. Put 100 cups of salt on top of it. Cook it in the oven for 10 minutes at a million degrees. When it looks brown like a roast, it’s done. Cut it into two halves with a knife and put it on a big white plate. Then you decorate the table and sit down. Eat it with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, oranges and salt. Then I brush my teeth and go to bed.”

Yeah, you’re welcome.

Happy Thanksgiving (tomorrow) and safe travels, everyone!

  1. Elizabeth Victory says:

That. Is. Amazing. Ohhhh to have the mind of a child 🙂

  2. Karen Field says:

I did a cookbook with my kindergarteners years ago and my favorite was the recipe for making broccoli. Ask me about it sometime.

  3. That is so adorable (the turkey recipe).

I also love this teaser photo. Can’t wait to see the full session! =)
