Photographers: have you ever longed to try your hand at shooting film, but whether due to fear or overwhelm or a lack of know-how, have never actually taken a crack at it? If so, I totally get it! And trust me- you aren’t the only one!

My love affair with photography began in the dark room, while taking a black & white film class my junior year in college. As cheesy as it sounds, I fell head over heels in love with film- the wind of the camera, the heavy click of the shutter, the magic of the chemicals, everything.

When I decided to start shooting weddings, I transitioned to digital, but then a couple years later got the itch for film again. But because this time, I was out of college and on my own, I didn’t have a CLUE where to begin! There was SO much information out there, much of it going way over my head. So if that’s you, make sure to give today’s episode a watch! I’m sharing 5 steps to shooting your first few rolls of film, even if you have NO idea where to start!

Anong other things, you’ll learn…

  • The difference between 35mm and medium format film
  • A few camera suggestions to get you started (some of which might just be hiding in a parent or relative’s closet)
  • My top two recommendations for beginner film stocks, both color & b&w
  • How to choose a lab that’ll give you the best chance of not just success, but GROWTH!

So what’re you waiting for? Go get after it!
