Remember yesterday how I said almost all of my anniversary couples are photographers themselves? These two are no exception! I first met Stephen & Chelsey at UNITED- I was looking for a seat during lunch and there was one open next to Chelsey, and so the first thing I did was sit down and promptly compliment her bangs. We got to chatting and I learned that she and her husband are business partners in Chico, California, that they’re high school sweethearts, that she’s got impeccable west coast style, and more. And I remember leaving feeling like I’d made a new friend!

Fast forward to this past January, and an email pops into my inbox from Chelsey- they were going to be in Charleston for a wedding and we planning to take a bit of vacation time as well, and wanted to have anniversary portraits taken while in lowcountry! See, they have anniversary photographs taken every year, but this was the first time they’d have them taken on the East Coast.

We had such an amazing afternoon- after starting at an iconic South Carolina plantation with all the oaks & Spanish moss one could ever want, we moseyed on over to downtown Charleston where we took our time meandering the quaint streets, charming twists & turns, and pastel façades. And I got to hear all about how they met, how they went from friends to flirting to sweethearts to knowing, from the time they were in high school, that they were going to marry each other one day. And now here they are, four years of marriage later, more in love than ever.

Stephen & Chelsey, I can’t tell you what a privilege it was to capture your sweet relationship in Charleston! Thank you, thank you so very much for allowing me in for the day. It was a dream, photographing you both together, and I loved the chance to get to know you both even more (especially because we managed to involve Prohibition AND Jeni’s!). So much love to you both!
