I really REALLY love hydrangeas. To me, they’re the epitome of early summer. They’re light, fluffy, and almost fairy-tale like. My favorites are the flower heads that are blue on one side and pink on the other, with purple in the middle where the two colors meet.

Hydrangeas are kind of funny looking, though. Sort of like someone took a normal, green shrub and stuck colored, coconut Snowball deserts all over them. I’ve always thought they looked like they belong in a Dr. Seuss story, something reminiscent of Horton Hears a Who.

Matt and I took a stroll through the neighborhood last weekend for the specific purpose of admiring [read: cutting and taking home] the hydrangeas growing down the road. To be fair, I only took three, and I cut them from the backside of the shrubs. That makes it sort of ok, right?

On the way back to the apartment, I found some bushes with berries! I’m not really sure what kind of berries they are, anyone out there have a clue? I know they’re not poisonous because I ate three of them and didn’t die. I think they might be boysenberries. Matt still maintains that they’re poisonberries. I’m pretty sure he made those up.
