I was thrilled to see how much you guys loved last week’s blog post on why you should utilize email templates! So this week, we’re following it up with the HOW: a quick tutorial on installing and using Canned Responses with your Gmail account in 4 easy steps!

Canned Responses are not, by default, switched on within your Gmail account. You have to manually enable that feature. Fortunately, it’s super simple and only takes about 30 seconds to take care of!

Step 1: Open Gmail and click over to “Settings” using the gear icon at the top right corner of the screen

Step 2: Once you’re in Settings, click over to “Labs,” located on the top menu to the right

Step 3: Once you’re in Labs, find the Canned Responses field and switch it from “Disable” to “Enable”, save your changes at the bottom of the page, and boom! You’re ready to rock.

Step 4: Now, in order to use those Canned Responses? Simple open a new email window or reply to an existing email. Click the “More options” downward arrow in the bottom right hand corner of the email window, hover over the newly-added “Canned responses” menu item, and select the Canned response appropriate for the email you’re writing!

I typically leave several fields blank within the templates I use in order to customize them before I send them out. I don’t mind if my clients know I use email templates, but I don’t ever want my responses to sound impersonal or robotic!

**And in case you need one to get you started, I’d love to share the template I use to answer new wedding inquiries- just go here for the FREE download!**
