I received an email from my friend Currie of Currie Fitzhugh Photography a few weeks ago, asking me if I’d be able to second shoot for one of her June weddings. I was thrilled! Currie has an amazing attitude and is one of the most pleasant people I’ve met in a long time. I guess it’s fitting, then, that Sam and Michelle were just as sweet.
The day began at Michelle’s parents’ house in beautiful Great Falls. Michelle was quiet, a bit reserved- the word “meek” comes to mind when I think of her. She was graceful and elegant as she moved through preparing for the 3:30 ceremony. No major panics, no fretting over any missed details. She was… content. And full of smiles, because she knew that in a few short hours, she would be entering into an incredible covenant with the man God designed specifically with her in mind.
Sam met up with Currie and I at the church, and he was equally as calm. He and his groomsmen joked about their professional model faces (you’ll see those), sunglasses and the secret services. Sam was confident, sure of his course. He knew that just a few rooms away was a beautiful girl, waiting to intertwine her life with his, more securely than ever before.
Sam and Michelle, your wedding was such an outpouring of God’s incredible love and unending faithfulness. I felt blessed to have witnessed your wedding, and I wish you the absolute best as you set out on your journey to explore the incredible plans that lay ahead for you.
These kind of moments on Saturday made me wish that I’d had a sister.
Michelle, really. You’re stunning.
See?! Sisterhood! I can’t wait til my brother gets married next fall- then I can have fun moments like this!
No, this isn’t Tom Cruise. Or Superman. It’s Sam Neer. But I can see how you’d think that.
The gorgeous reception, held at the Algonkian Meeting and Event Center, was coordinated and designed by Tyler of Voila! Event Studios. She’s amazing- look at this reception space!
The photo below and to the right is one of my favorites- she looks absolutely content. Michelle’s expression is what people mean when they use the word “bliss.”
Favorite, hands down.
Sam and Michelle are both avid dancers, having met in a dance group at William and Mary. They were TEARING UP the dance floor.
Lend me some sugar, I AM your neighbor!
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Neer! I hope Costa Rica is treating you well!

Abby!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!! They are so beautiful, I can’t thank you enough for being with me!!
Ahh! I LOVE the first short of the dress, with that gorgeous window! I think the backlighting really helped show off the detail of the dress. I also adore all of the bridal shots before the wedding. I really regret not scheduling enough time to get some photos like those in at my wedding. I REALLy want to have a bridal shoot… I even tried on my dress the other night to make sure it still fit… but it will have to be later down the road when the budget allows for it!
As usual, spectacular job, ma’am 🙂
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. That is sensational. You captured the day perfectly. What a great job. I LOVE your edits. And your words. Absolutely perfect post : )
