During my senior year at RU, I lived in a house with five other girls, and four of the six of us were engaged and planning weddings. It was crazy! All four of us had completely different but equally beautiful weddings- I feel like last summer should have been named “the summer of nuptials.” Megan was one of my engaged roommates and married her now-husband Tyler in a gorgeous wedding last July. Unfortunately, her wedding photographer experience wasn’t as awesome as it should have been; she didn’t end up with any of her digital files and had to cull her final choices down to 70 photos for her album. That’s it! Seventy photos from the whole day- getting ready, the first look, the ceremony, family shots, portraits and the reception. I don’t know about you, but that seems impossibly hard to me. Megan thought so too- she and Tyler recounted for me how she was driven to tears trying to weed out all the photos she couldn’t have.

I was so frustrated for her and wanted to find a way to give her the gorgeous images I know she wanted. We came up with the idea of going into DC with a couple of my favorite photographers, Terra of Terra Dawn Photography and Mike of Mike Lesnick Photography, and bringing Tyler and Megan along as our models. We were all thrilled with the outcome of the day, and I still consider this my favorite wedding shoot so far. Thanks again, Tyler and Megan, this was such a blast!

We started out at the National Portrait Gallery in DC.

This last one was taken at the Hotel Monaco across the street from the portrait gallery. There’s no end to her cuteness.

  1. Terra Dawn says:

Oh, just lovely darling!!!! LOV-ER-LY!!! Thanks for inviting me (and Mike, I’m sure…lol) along!! It somuchfun!! 😀

  2. Elizabeth Victory says:

These are some of your best photos so far, for sure! They are just stunning every times I see them. I was wondering the story behind these photos, too, since there were no getting ready/ceremony/ect photos. That is AWFUL that they had to weed out their wedding photos like that… UGH!! I bet they are BEYOND pleased with these, though, and hopefully it helps to make up for the wedding day photo bummers.

  3. Megan Shifflee says:

I love it Abby! Your so AWESOME! and I can’t thank you, Terra and Mike enough for giving us the wedding pictures we really wanted! We LOVE them! 🙂

  4. Megan Shifflett* says:

figured I’d spell my last name right this time….lol

  5. […] and a couple of friends (Megan and Tyler) for a “redemption shoot” (see that entry here). Mike taught me pretty much everything I know about operating a Nikon, so he’s my go-to guy […]
