Ok, so I don’t know what the weather’s like in Northern Virginia today, but we woke up this morning in Rhode Island to SUNSHINE!! You might be scratching your head as to why this is significant, so let me fill you in- it’s been raining and/or foggy at home for the last 2.5 weeks. And normally, that doesn’t bother me much, but it’s late May and the temperatures have averaged in the mid 50’s. And THAT’S depressing. It’s spring time! I want warmer weather and sunshine! And today, we finally got it! We had to go north to find it, but hey- I’ll take it.

On Saturday, my big brother Ethan graduated with his MASTERS! I am so freaking proud of him- this guy is brilliant. He’s been writing about the Syrian conflict for a long time now and has recently had several of his articles published, and seeing all of his hard work validated when he walked across the stage was the proudest I’ve ever been of him. GO ETHAN!

Monday Mash-Up | Abby Grace Photography

As always, lessons learned/events that transpired over the last week:

  • I spent last Wednesday with the incredible Natalie Franke for a full day of shooting, and guys? This lady is GOOD for the soul. She’s one of those people who makes you want to stand by their fire, to paraphrase my friend Mary Marantz and my imaginary friend, Taylor Swift. (I did meet Taylor once, to be fair- we COULD be friends. I’m convinced of it)
  • Having a husband who doesn’t mind you sleeping in the car while he drives for hours on end is the best.
  • Also, praise the Lord for laptops. Being able to work from the car is such a relief when you’re hurtling toward a mini vacation and haven’t finished your workload.
  • We’re listening to Pride & Prejudice & Zombies for our drive, and I have to say- I’m not as impressed as I’d hoped. It’s kind of hokey and cartooney. Have any of you seen the movie? Is it any better?
  • Also, my Jane Austen-loving mother will probably die of shame after reading that last bullet point. Sorry mom…
  • You know what’s dumb? The fact that some states only sell wine at liquor stores (I’M LOOKING AT YOU, RHODE ISLAND). Maybe it’s just me, but wine seems like a pretty innocuous addition to an evening meal or routine- why on earth does that require a trip to a liquor store?!
  • I just learned how to use my phone as a hotspot for my laptop- this is changing my life already.

And look! Previews of the two sweet sessions coming to the blog this week! Happy Monday, friends :).
