Well, last week was AWESOME. We started off in Charleston and then drove the 40 minutes or so to Kiawah for Mark & Meredith’s engagement session. And normally, I don’t really care what kind of car we’re driving, but when the rental company asks if you want to upgrade the blah Chevy you initially reserved to a cherry red Mustang convertible, you say “YES.” My car throughout high school and college was a VW Cabrio, so I MISS the feeling of driving with the wind whipping my hair around! Totally worth the upgrade last week.

Oh, also- can we talk about these Instagram Stories? Because I hated the idea when it first came out because it is a direct ripoff of Snapchat but…now I kind of love it. Because Snapchat STILL confuses me sometimes, and there’s no real way to search for other users on the platform. For business owners, I think Instagram Stories are the way to go- you’ve (presumably) already got an audience built, and it’s easier for new people to accidentally stumble upon you!

As always, lessons learned/events that transpired over the last week!

  • The OLYMPICS are in full-swing! Matt’s a big fan of watching swimming, having been a swimmer growing up, and I love gymnastics. Also, can we talk about how the Olympics are the only time in our lives where every non-gymnast suddenly becomes an authority on the subjective scoring system used by the IOC? Like “COME ON. She totally stuck that landing! 1.3 points of deductions?! That’s unprecedented!”
  • Also, the Olympics are the only time in my life I’ll voluntarily watch something like men’s water polo. The US is playing Spain as I’m typing this.
  • I took a legitimate sick day last week! I’m so proud of myself! Some of you might be wondering why that’s worth mentioning- because as small business owners who work from home, it’s often really, really hard to give yourself the grace to say “I just need to STOP and rest today, even though I’m ‘supposed’ to be working.”
  • One of the best things we’ve done all summer is becoming members at Stone Tower Winery. We spent Friday night out there with a glass of their sparkling rosé in hand, and with the intoxicating combination of live music, sweet summer air, and a cheese + charcuterie plate, I was in heaven.

Sean & Claudia’s wedding at National Museum of Women in the Arts was incredible. I can’t wait to show you guys the whole fête on Thursday, but for now, here’s a sneak peek of the goodness!
