Well hello there, beautiful Monday morning! Can you believe it’s almost August? Ridiculous. When I was a kid, I use to have this perception that even years (’98, 2000, 2002) passed by more quickly than the odd years. I have no idea why, but it always seemed to happen that way! These days it feels like I sit down at my desk on Monday morning, work for a few hours, look up and it’s already Friday afternoon. I guess time really does fly when you love what you’re doing!
As always, lessons learned/things that happened over the weekend/past week:
- I got bangs! Not swoopy bangs, but sort of Zooey Deschanel bangs. Actually, that’s exactly what I told my hair person I wanted when I sat down in her chair.
- As much as the change refreshed me, I don’t think summer weather + bangs + my naturally wavy hair pair very well together. I shot a portrait session at dawn on Saturday morning and by 8 am, I looked like a trainwreck. Maye we’ll save this hair style for the cooler months of fall.
- Matt & I visited with my grandparents this weekend and brought Lily- I think she might love my Pawpaw more than she loves Matt & I.
- Watching the Olympics makes me feel like a total wuss when I struggle to finish a six-mile run. Can I get an amen?
- Speaking of the Olympics, HOW ABOUT THAT VOLDEMORT?? Whoever decided that introducing He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named to the Olympics deserves a chocolate cake. And a strawberry milkshake. WELL DONE, London. The rest of the opening ceremony show didn’t really make a lot of sense, but the theatrics were awesome.
- Also, can we all agree that every fourth summer is the only time that everyone is the world is suddenly a gymnastics expert? We were watching the women’s vault qualifiers last night and were “oohing” at not-so-great finishes and yelling “STICK THAT LANDING!” at especially good ones. It should be noted that neither of us have ever even set foot in a gymnastics facility.

I’m convinced I missed my calling as a women’s olympic gymnast. I prove this by leaping and cartwheeling around my apartment and imagining myself in those sweet leotards (after I lost about 50lbs of course).

I love this post! And I totally agree about the gymnastics. I was watching the men’s qualifiers and someone had apparently messed up on the horse and just jumped down. I didn’t even see it happen! How and when did he mess up!? I even rewound. I am however, positive I could keep my feet from moving once I land. 😉 Yeah right…but I like to think I could.
oh i think you look awesome with the bangs!!! I’ve ALWAYS wanted bangs..from the days of being obsessed with Hilary Duff and her hair..my hair is so thick though, that they would never work for me:/…but I think you rock them!!

So funny! Chad gets just like that when we watch gymnastics. I actually used to be a gymnast up until partway through high school, so I’m constantly telling him about proper form and making comments. I miss that sport dearly.
