Yep! We pulled a Beyoncé and dropped a brand new website without any preface. And maybe you’re reading this from your phone or iPad and are thinking “gosh, this is SO much easier to view?” That’s because we updated my blog, too! It’s now mobile friendly, just like my new ShowIt5 site.

My designer, the amazing Jeff Shipley, emailed me back in May- ShowIt5 had launch a few months prior and we needed to update my site. But we wanted to do more than just update to the new format- something was missing from my then-current website. I’d tried so hard to communicate the elegance and sophistication of my work that I managed to smother the personality side of things! So people were surprised when they’d meet me for the first time and I was in a tulle skirt + Chuck Taylors, or when I’d lace obscure movie quotes into every day conversations. And I didn’t want my couples to be surprised by that kind of thing.

We’d done a great job of communicating the type of work that I do, but I also realized there wasn’t anything on my website about WHY I do it. My vision statement is an integral, core factor of my photography and business, and I share that with every couple I meet with. It needed to be on my website, too!

So Jeff & I got to work. There were a few key pieces we kept, like the architectural illustration that bedecks the background of my site. And we kept the logo, and the color palette, so to be clear, it wasn’t a rebrand. It was a re-design, with a heavier focus on bringing who I am and WHY I do what I do into the picture.

I am SO IN LOVE with the result!

My absolute favorite section of the new site is the “walking contradictions” on the all-new About page. Jeff & I had a couple of meetings with Jen Olmstead, Jeff’s business partner for Tonic Site Shop, and we were puzzling over the question of mixing the elegance of my work and taste with the sometimes-quirkiness of my personality. And I think this is the perfect way to blend the two together.

My second favorite part? The Experience page. There, I share the story from my parents’ wedding that’s been so foundational in forming my business, in crafting a vision for my couples’ marriages. Not just their wedding photographs- their marriages.

There are SO many new nooks to explore on my new site- I would be so honored if you have the time to poke around a bit- just go HERE!Because I have a feeling you’re going to love it! And once you do, come back and tell me what you think- did we hit the nail on the head?

Surprise! A brand new website!
