Welp, today’s post is a wee bit late because I decided to sleep until 10:15. Before you judge me too harshly, I was originally up at 3:45 for a sunrise session, but due to the rain we ended up postponing and I decided to go back to bed rather than start my work day at 4 am. But because I’d already enjoyed my morning cup of tea, getting back to sleep was a little bit harder than I expected. Also, having your dog decide that laying sideways in the middle of the bed is a good idea? That doesn’t make sleep any easier to attain either. Fortunately, once you DO get to sleep on a Tempur-Pedic mattress, you can realistically stay that way for days.

Also, you my have noticed the blog’s gotten a bit of an update! My rad designer and I will be updating a few things here and there on the blog and website over the next week or two and I can’t wait for y’all to see the changes!

As always, things that happened/lessons learned over the past week:

  • While talking with friends yesterday about Kid President’s Pep Talk, it was discovered that Best Buy has Space Jam on Blue-Ray for a mere TEN DOLLARS. So what did we do? We spent last night reliving our childhood. And I still remember all the words to “I Believe I Can Fly.”
  • You know you’ve seen Pitch Perfect too many times when the deejay at a wedding plays “No Diggity” and you know all the words to the first verse only.
  • We haven’t seen a single cicada in northern Virginia this summer, but on Saturday, due to a wedding in Fredericksburg, I was treated to the entire “once-every-13-years” experience. I HATE these things- they’re creepy, gross, and entirely too comfortable with humans. What other bug (besides mosquitoes) hangs out on your legs for three straight minutes until you notice, shriek like banshee, then knock it off and stomp the living daylights out of it?
  • One of the drawbacks of working from home is having your kitchen immediately available. Lunch last Thursday consisted of a couple of mini sweet peppers with hummus, three maraschino cherries, and a crescent roll. Weirdest meal ever.
  • Sometimes, when I can’t think of enough material to fill these bullet points, I’ll look back over my Instagrams from the previous week. In doing so, I’m reminded how many photos I take of food, Lily and cute office supplies.

And if this isn’t the cutest Best Man you’ve ever seen, I give up. Charles & Jen (& Knuckles the Boxer!) will be on the blog on Thursday!

Abby, first, I had noticed some of the changes on the website and wondered if I had missed the big announcement. But I LOVE them! 😀 Second, I would TOTALLY sleep like that too!! We’ve lived in Italy for three weeks now, and ONLY now am I waking up at a reasonable time. And by reasonable, I mean 9am instead of 10 or 11. lol. Third, I LOVE Pitch Perfect and started singing one of the songs last night – not sure which – but I think Greg might have thought I was crazy. And finally, I love instagram! And I love that you post pictures of food – that is mostly what I want to post about and I have to hold myself back! 😀

  6. Sarah Adams says:
