Remember that show on VHI “Best Week Ever”? I’m definitely having one of those, and it’s only Monday! Yesterday I hopped on a train to head up to New York City for Mike & Kristin’s engagement session, and from the first frame (no really- the very first shutter click!) it was incredible. I’m bursting at the seams to get home and get these images edited- I have a feeling their’s will be one looooong blog post.

In other news, I learned how to hail a cab! I had to ask a native New Yorker how to do it first so that I didn’t look like an idiot, but after a quick tutorial, I successfully hailed FOUR cabs throughout the course of yesterday afternoon. I’m on fiyah.

As always, lessons learned/events that transpired over the weekend:

  • Taking the train is surprisingly more enjoyable than driving to the city. I called my uncle who lives in Brooklyn to ask about the best way to get here, and he assured me that if I get anxiety driving in DC, it PROBABLY wasn’t a good idea to attempt to navigate the streets of New York. Troof.
  • Proof that I have the best couples ever- after spending nearly seven hours with Mike & Kristin last night, we’re going to FAO Schwartz this morning because last night I said I’d never been. Yessss.
  • Riding in a New York City cab- well, I’m thankful to be alive today, that’s for sure.
  • Alright, how many people live in the Big Apple?? Approximately one jillion? Then HOW do I keep running into people I recognize every time I’m here? The first time, I saw my great Aunt & Uncle, who live in Charlottesville, VA. The second time, I met Kenny Kim, Chicago wedding photographer extraordinaire. And yesterday, I recognized Matt & Clare from my friend Katelyn’s blog- I felt like such a creep.
  • This city is amazing, plain and simple. I want to shoot here again and again and again!

See?? Amazing!

I have the same luck too, I always run into the most unexpected people when in NYC. Love that place! Gorg photo, can’t wait to see the full session!

It looks like Seinfeld was accurate when they kept running into each other randomly on the streets of NYC then based off what keesp happening to you.
