Happy Monday, friends! I had a bit of a late start this morning, but that was totally fine by me. The cooler weather is making snuggling up under our duvet that much more appealing, and seeing as Mondays after weddings are sort of a day off for me, I feel no qualms whatsoever about giving in to the morning puppy cuddles.
I need recommendations for a new book! I can only re-read my old favorites so many times before I start to get a bit crazy, so tell me: what are you reading these days that you absolutely can’t put down? The last new book I read was Night Circus as few weeks ago, and I have to say- I was disappointed. The ending made almost NO sense to me, and the whole thing felt very anti-climactic. Is that just me? Please say that wasn’t just me…
As always, lessons learned/events that transpired over the past week!
Oh my gosh, wait til y’all see Vince & Cassie’s wedding from this past weekend. It was stunning from start to finish- I can’t wait to share their joyful Creighton Farms fête with Engaging Affairs with you guys on Thursday! In the mean time, can we talk about how gorgeous Cassie is?!

Definitely check out The Girl on the Train! A really thrilling mystery/drama! 🙂
I’ve recently gotten into P.D. James. I’m a huge fan of Agatha Christie’s mysteries & P.D. James is quite similar. Seeing as you love all things British, I’d highly recommend anything by either one of them.
Beautiful photo. I can agree with you on sleeping in on this cool rainy day here.
You should read Anna Karenina. Not necessarily because it’s a great read (it is), but because then you can tell people, when you want to sound smart, “Yeah, I read Anna Karenina once, but I just found the 19th Century Russian style to be too polemic for what it tries to be.” I read tried to read Nietzsche’s “Thus Spake Zarathustra” like three times so I could tell people I read Nietzsche. I never did figure out what the heck he was talking about.
So… yeah. Read angry 19th century Russian literature. Guaranteed to be disappointed everytime. Russian authors love to disappoint. NO TEARS, ONLY VODKA. DA.
I’m a little obsessed with the new Cinderella movie as well 🙂 I watched it on the flight to Europe while Ben watched Ex Machina next to me (we have slightly different tastes).
PS for a new book PLEASE read the Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. It will blow your mind (if you haven’t read it already!)
Ahhh, Cinderella. I’m actually surprised at myself that I haven’t picked it up on DVD yet, because I’m practically going through withdrawal… I saw it 6 times in the theater. Wish I was joking. O.o
I just finished reading Room by Emma Donoghue. This is the first book I’ve read in a couple of years (I know, I’m sad about that too). It was sad, yet also gave me that victorious feeling too. It’s written from a five year old’s perspective so it was kind of a hard read for me, but once I got past that I couldn’t put it down. I cried. Not sure if that’s the type of book you’re looking for, but I loved it and would read it again! Happy reading 🙂
The Rosie Project is a really fun + light hearted read! Highly recommend! x
